VIA Freeze Quad Controlled Rate Freezer
The VIA Freeze Quad is a Linux-based operating system with an integrated SATA hard drive and operated by a large central touch screen. Users will find the UI touchscreen interface relatively easy to operate, and it also allows the use of a keyboard and mouse, as well as web-based software.
Liquid nitrogen and its containers can sometimes pose a source of potential contamination in the lab. This fact limits which instruments can be used in a clean room. By eliminating the use of LN2 (liquid nitrogen), this lineup of GE VIA freeze-controlled rate freezers can be used in clean rooms. In addition, this ability reduces the costs associated with using LN2, deliveries, and storage, and increases user safety.
An electric Stirling cryocooling engine powers the controlled-rate freezer and cools by conduction. This method of cooling allows samples to cool more uniformly than their LN2 counterpart. The verified temperature range is -80 °C;
