Descripción
Between 1956 and 1958, only 118 Futura models were crafted, and among them, "Black Beauty" stands as a unique gem with its one-of-a-kind black hull. Originally, it was believed that this exceptional vessel was ordered by a Detroit Chris Craft dealer's son. However, after a Brass Bell magazine feature on "Black Beauty," it was revealed by the son of the original owner, Whitey Rommelare, that the boat was indeed ordered by his father for personal use. When the current owners acquired "Black Beauty" in 1986, it was in good shape overall but had a worn canvas cabin top. To address this, they enlisted master craftsmen to replace the top canvas with a West System coating and pristine white paint. This upgrade highlighted the need for a more comprehensive restoration, setting off a 16-year journey of meticulous refit and rebuild. During this time, two of the most skilled marine craftsmen undertook the project, enhancing the boat far beyond its original state.
